Headteacher Mr M. Grogan

A warm welcome to St. George’s Central CE Primary School
From the Headteacher…

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Tyldesley St. George’s Central CE School.

As a Church of England School we lay the foundations for life, nurturing spiritual and moral awareness through the study and worship of the Christian Faith, and other faith communities and cultures.

Our school motto of: ‘Never settle for less than your best’ is at the heart of everything we do in school and together with parents, carers, governors, the church and local community, each and every child is encouraged to follow this principle.

We are fortunate that we have many classrooms and resource areas, a modern ICT suite, a huge sports field and a large playground. Your child will be taught by talented, enthusiastic and caring staff who use their expertise to extend the learning experiences of all children both in the classroom and in a range of extra – curricular clubs, trips and activities. In our school, education is about children experiencing the joy of discovery, solving problems and being creative. We aim to develop their sense of awe and wonder, and their excitement about the world. The curriculum we deliver is characterised by high standards and is broad, balanced, personalised and skills based - the fusion of excellence and enjoyment. Teaching supports children’s individual needs and abilities.

We pride ourselves on being a warm, caring and friendly school that constantly works to build partnerships with parents and the local community. Our close work with St. George’s Church helps to ensure that Christian values and respect for others are embedded within the ethos, teaching and daily worship of the school.

After reading our prospectus, please feel welcome to come and look around the school and meet the staff and children.

I look forward to seeing you soon,

Mr Mark Grogan

Our Mission Statement at the school.

St George's Central seeks to provide quality education rooted in the Christian faith, serving the spiritual, moral, and educational needs of the community of which it is part.

Our teaching philosophy.

We encourage all our children to strive for academic excellence but we also want them to develop the personal skills and qualities to enable them to live alongside others.

We want them to feel loved and valued and we aim at all times to help children develop positive self-esteem and to experience pride in themselves and their achievements to give them a sense of self belief and the confidence to make the most of their lives.

We empower our children to search out answers about their world and to develop a love of learning. Our ultimate aim is not only to educate but to excite and inspire our children to develop a love of learning that will last for life .
